Feature Articles

Photoshop
Katrin Eismann and Sean Duggan lead us through an exploration of the creative possibilities of extreme photographic effects in Creating Cross-processing Effects in Photoshop.

Photoshop
It's easy to overlook some of the workhorse effects that can be generated using Photoshop's own filters. The Photoshop Fundamentals: Using the Color Halftone Filter tutorial shows how to get started with the classic halftone effect.

The Photos.com Challenge

Click to view Photos.com ChallengeThe March Challenge is at the midway point, with entries this time needing to be based on a selection of six floral patterns from the Photos.com stock photo collection. The challenge is to use part of any five of the six pattern images in a new composition. The creators of three of the winning images will receive three months of access to Photos.com, while three more will receive one month. The entry at right, The Garden of Professor August Mobius, is by David Macdonald. It contains a puzzle, the solution to which is available in David's Graphics.com gallery.

LiquidTreat: Montage: Unmonumental Online
LiquidTreatHere's a perfect procrastination break: Through March 30, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York hosts an online exhibit, Montage: Unmonumental Online. It features digital collages from 14 artists that mash up images, sound and programming know-how without a creative brief to play referee. Artist Oliver Laric strings together 50 YouTube videos with amateurs singing 50 Cent songs, while Guthrie Lonergan creates an Internet Group Shot by overlapping amateur group photos in a yearbook-style collage.
